One of the most important aspects of a relationship is meeting her parents for the first time. You have to leave a positive impression on them in order to win their approval. Prepare yourself for the big meeting and try to act as normally as you could. Your girlfriend might be very particular about this meeting because it means a lot to her to get her parents approval. If you cant manage to make it successful your relationship might suffer badly due to it.

You can start preparing for the big event by extracting information about her parents from her. Ask her important questions which will come handy afterwards. Equip yourself with their likes and dislikes. Buy something for both of them but make sure you ask your girlfriend beforehand whether they would like those presents or not. Learn about the subjects her parents never like to discuss, especially with an outsider. Ask her if there is some secret of yours to preserve and do not blow it up once you are there.

Dress up according to the occasion. If you are meeting for a dinner, choose an appropriate dress for the evening. If you are meeting outdoors for some picnic or outing, make sure you do not dress up too formally. Try to appear cool and calm. Be confident about your career, education, family background, way of living and other aspects of your life. Listen to her parents intently and do not interrupt them while they are telling long stories of their past or their married life. Nod your approval every time they try o make a joke and smile with genuine pleasure.

If her parents ask you to lead something, do that without hesitation or uncertainty. Be prepared that you might be asked to say prayers before the meal or do some household errands with them you may never have done before. Your girlfriend will help you out in everything but make sure that you do not embarrass her in front of her parents. This meeting is very crucial in determining your future relationship with your girlfriend so do not mess it up by being egotistic or self-absorbed.

Another important thing to remember is not to give your girlfriend too much attention while her parents are watching. Instead try to be more affectionate towards her mother and compliment her every time you get a chance. In everything you do, from choosing the gift for them to starting conversation and complimenting them, do not exaggerate anything. Do not show that you are desperately trying to win their approval. Just do it the way that you think is the best. This way you wont have to memorize lines or things you should be doing at some particular instants.

Meeting her parents for the first time and making it successful could be difficult for you but be confident and just follow the simple tips given above to ensure an evening everyone would appreciate and approve of.
