Many of the market research and analysis groups are forecasting future trends and consumer behavior in the travel industry.
Travelers, today, are more conscious than ever. Most individuals admit that they want to be involved in the preservation of historic places and sites of cultural interest.
People are well aware of the global movement for the protection and preservation of the environment. So, responsible travel, eco-tourism and green travel are the new industry buzzwords.
Travel hygiene is always a prime concern, but we can hardly do anything about airplanes and public transportation. Hence, most people tend to be choosy in booking hotels and eating restaurant food. No one likes to compromise on cleanliness. In fact, a growing number of travelers carry their own disinfectant and clean-up supplies, shower shoes, pillows, towels or linens, when going on a vacation.
The growing interest in nature spots and biking among Americans is a testament to our love of nature. Single travelers prefer to use bikes rather than a rental car, not only for cost savings, but also because they care about the environment.
Today, travelers are more responsible than ever, and this trend will keep climbing. We know that parks and nature reserves are not to be littered with plastic or other indestructible waste. Moreover, an increasing number of travelers are opting for local crafts and products over imported goods in order to support the local economy.
A number of airlines are working out ways to allow the use of cell phones on airplanes. Social groups and the responsible media are taking out a crusade against in-flight mobile phones. Concerns vary from safety issues and irritation to fears about air rage. Interestingly, people are eager to boycott any airline that provided such technology.
