Are you happy? Is your life the way you want it to be? Are you pursuing your lifes ambitions? I hope your answer is Yes to each of these questions because there are a lot of people whose answer is No.

We can get caught up trying to live our parents expectations. Maybe we pursue a certain career or we get married just to meet parental expectations. Perhaps we are trying to fulfill the expectations of other people in our lives, such as our spouse, friends, neighbors or co-workers. Expectations have their place. The expectations I am talking about are when we live our lives to meet the needs of other people instead of fulfilling our own dreams and desires.

For some, they may spend their lives waiting for something magical to occur, something which will give them the feeling of happiness, satisfaction or completeness. They may spend time mastering ways to avoid positive changes within their lives. I believe there are many times we are not fully aware of how we set ourselves up for this unhappiness in which we endure. We master techniques such as alcohol and drug abuse. We overwork and develop excessive behaviors. We withdraw from others and deny responsibility for ourselves. We constantly make excuses and procrastinate. We concentrate on negative thoughts and actions. The list could go on and on.

However, I suggest we make an even longer list of ways which will create value in ourselves and enhance positive changes within our lives.

For example:

Concentrate on positive thoughts. You Become What You Think About!

Seek therapeutic help from professionals. This can save you a lot of time.

Ask for help from family members and friends; let your needs be known to them.

Educate yourself on healthy lifestyles and strategies. Read, Read, Read.

Manage your time and your tasks.

Learn assertive communication skills.

Take some risks; challenge yourself. Always strive to be your best self.

Learn to relax.

Allow time for fun and play. Grow younger not older.

Be open and honest with yourself and others.

Express your thoughts and feelings. Your secrets make you sick.

Listen attentively to others. This is a great way to give and receive respect.

Be patient with yourself. Changes do not occur overnight.

Make a commitment to yourself for positive change.

Stop waiting for the right time to make a change. Develop your own list of positive approaches and then make a commitment to incorporate them into your life. Live your life to the fullest and do not deny yourself the opportunity of being fully happy and alive.
