GAMES TO PREPARE YOUR CHILDREN FOR READING EXPERIENCES

How might I prepare my children for reading experiences?

As an introduction to reading, try playing this game with your children:

Ask your child, "Can you think of a job that you wouldn't need to know how to read?" This is not as easy as it appears. Almost all jobs require some reading skills. Here are some answers that your child might add, and their link to reading.

? Football player
You need to know how to read the playbook, and your contracts

? Trash collector,Bus driver, Taxi driver
You need to know how to read the street signs on your route

? Cook
You need to be able to read the recipes

? Dancer
Can you read the labels of the dance recordings?



Here is another activity -

Discuss or make a collage answering the question, "What are the things that Mommy or Daddy reads?"
